Can Cats Have Nightmares
Naturally just as it is with us it is completely normal for the dreams of your feline friend to be associated with a bad event throughout the day.
Can cats have nightmares. By the time the cat wakes up it should have moved on. A lot of learningprocessing happens during sleep and memory routines are established or strengthened. That said I did have a dog with night terrors.
I have had some vivid night mares but none about any of the furry pets we have had over the years. The cats would often be stalking prey in their dreams pouncing when they had it cornered. That is its purpose.
Well of course they can dream. Just like us animals dreams may not. They are actually cats that have brain damage and lesions.
This is so different from their regular behavior it can only be a bad dream. Because as awful as trauma is it lingers in the memory as a learning experience. Answer 1 of 8.
A cat is a fairly intelligent animal and certainly possesses the level of mental development required to dream. Have you ever been startled awake from a nightmare that seems just a bit too real. It has to be horrible for you.
However anecdotal evidence seems to suggest that cats can wake up and appear frightened indicating a bad dream. In some respects this is a positive experience. Its a behavioral change that can be corrected once a pet has been properly diagnosed.
